Ucchista Ganesha is regarded as the eighth among the 32 different forms of Ganesha. This is the tantric aspect of the Lord and one of the 5 forms of Ganesha who has an accompanying Shakti. The God derives his name from Uchchhishta(?leftovers?). The word refers to the food leftover at the end of a ritual, but in this context refers to its Tantric connotation. Uchchhishta is the food kept in the mouth, which is contaminated with saliva, thus ritually impure and a taboo in Hinduism. The Lord is worshipped as the one who is the giver of desire fulfilment to his devouts. He is the one which helps gain control over five sensory organs and is also worshipped as a giver of progeny. The Lord is having a Pomegranate in his hand which is a symbol of fertility. It is also believed that the Lord took this form to destroy evil on the planet.
